What you should know about C/TFN Elections

Ḵaa Shaadé Hení, Maria Benoit, is not seeking reelection, so C/TFN will be heading to the polls again this June to elect a new leader.

The official election date will be announced by Executive Council in the springtime, at which time candidates may request a 50-signature prescribed nomination form.

In the meantime, if you’re considering a run (or if you know someone who might be) please keep these requirements in mind:

Candidates must:

(a) be a Citizen of C/TFN

(b) be 21 years of age or older on the date set for the close of nomination

(c) have at least fifty (50) eligible voters sign a prescribed nomination form

(d) deliver signed and completed in full the necessary nomination forms by the close of nomination period

(e) not have been removed pursuant to section 13.2 of the Constitution within four years of the writ of election

The date of the election has not yet been announced. However, past elections have been held at the end of June and executive Council will drop the writ no more than 40 days before the election date. Polls will be held in Whitehorse, Tagish, and Carcross. Poll locations will be announced later on.
