Carcross/Tagish First Nation (C/TFN) created the Supportive Family Housing Program with funding from the Government of Canada in 2018 to help improve housing, wellness, and family stability in the community.
This program provides transitional housing for families who are at risk of involvement with the child welfare system or are in the process of reunifying with their children. The building includes comfortable, condominium-style homes along with shared spaces for healing, learning, and support services.
Families living in Supportive Housing receive wrap-around supports that help them build life skills, strengthen parenting, and work toward independent, secure housing.
While the building operates during regular business hours, additional help is available through C/TFN’s Community Safety, Wellness, and Outreach programs. In special circumstances, two units may also be used for short-term, emergency housing through a 24-hour Care Plan.
Be 19 years of age or older on the date of move-in.
Be a C/TFN Citizen, Associate Member, or Beneficiary; or have written approval to use the program from both of the following:
Lack adequate housing, which may include situations such as:
Have had involvement with Family and Children Services within the past twelve (12) months—whether the file is open or closed—or be currently working with Family Council.
