Visit Haa Shagóon Hídi

A Venue Set at the Crossroads of the Yukon

Welcome to a world class event venue that bridges living cultures with traditions, communities with nature and all that is in between.

Our Cultural Centre, located on the Traditional Territory of the Carcross Tagish First Nation, is a premier events venue in Yukon, gathering members of the community for celebrations large and small. From weddings and potlatches to corporate events, we provide a venue to host memorable events in a spectacular setting.

For those interested in learning more about our culture and ways of life, the Haa Shagóon Hídi – Our Ancestors House – is here to welcome you on your next visit to Carcross.

Experience the heart of Carcross in one building. Whether you are searching for a venue to host your Yukon events, or want to experience a Yukon First Nations Cultural Centre, Haa Shagóon Hídi has something for everyone.

Feel the culture and histories of the Carcross Tagish First Nations as you enter through the main doors flanked by our story totems.

Admire the artwork of modern First Nation artists and residents that adorn the main foyer of our building, seeing not only our collective pasts with our interpretive gallery, but seeing the artistic visions of our future.

Gather round our cedar canoe, used to transport our people in 2019 to our main celebrations of Haa Kusteeyi.

Inside our building, we provide a gathering space for events such as potlatches in our main hall and meetings for a variety of purposes in our boardrooms. From our fire pit, you can wander along our interpretive trail that hugs the shoreline of Nares lake and offers impressive views of the nature that surrounds us.

Our building is part of the soul of our community, providing more than a source or art and meetings, we encourage growth and renewal of cultural traditions among our community with several focused gatherings with our knowledge keepers.

Our language department provides weekly language classes for our staff and community while the medicine room holds monthly workshops for community members to revive tradition uses of flora for healing purposes.

Sewing circles take place regularly to craft beautiful and functional items for our people.

Our Ancestors House is a place to gather all our generations, and is the perfect meeting space for those outside our community to take in our world class hospitality.
