Carcross/Tagish First Nation has opened a new Supportive Family Housing Program to help families stay safe, strong, and together. The grand opening took place on November 10, 2025.
C/TFN first received funding in 2018 from the Government of Canada to help fix problems with housing, wellness, and family support. We made a plan to use this money to help families who were at risk of losing their children, or who were trying to bring their children home.
The new building has condo-style homes for families and healing and support spaces downstairs. Staff are there during regular work hours. Community Safety, Wellness, and Outreach programs can offer extra help. Two units may also be used in emergencies for people who need housing right away. This is called the 24-hour Care Plan.
The goal of the Supportive Housing Program is to give families a safe place to stay while they work toward stable, long-term housing. Families get wrap-around supports, like learning life skills, parenting skills, and how to manage a home. These supports help parents feel confident and help children grow up healthy and strong.
