Ian Foss, Executive Director

C/TFN is welcoming our new Executive Director, Ian Foss. Here's a few words he'd like to share with our community:

My name is Ian Foss, and I am honoured to have returned home to the Carcross/Tagish First Nation as Executive Director.

For those who have not met me before, family is an important part of how I introduce myself. I am the son of William Mathews. My grandparents were Jessie Jim & Omar Mathews and my great grandparents were Tagish Jim & Ginni. Those family connections are an important part of who I am and how I am connected to our Nation and community.

Although I am a C/TFN Citizen, much of my life and career took me away from home. Earlier this year, I retired from the British Columbia Public Service after a rewarding career in public service and leadership. As I considered what would come next, the opportunity to return home and contribute to C/TFN felt both meaningful and timely.

Returning home has given me an opportunity to reconnect with community, learn more about the people and families who make up our Nation, and deepen my own understanding of where I come from. I am grateful for the warm welcome I have received and for the opportunity to serve our Nation at this stage of my life.

I look forward to meeting Citizens, hearing your stories, learning from Elders and community members, and building relationships throughout the Nation. If you see me around the administration building, at community events, or out in the community, please stop and introduce yourself.

I am proud to be home.
